Welcome to the Wembley Forum

We have been very lucky in the UK to have a national stadium that is recognised the world over as one of the greatest stadiums in the world. Both in its old incarnation (Old-Wembley) and now in its new form. This forum is aimed at providing a centralised place for discussion, memories, chat or questions on the Wembley Stadium and any of the events that have taken place in it or will in the future.
If like me you are a fan of the UK's National Stadium, you will I hope find a lot of interesting reading here. If you are attending an event but are unsure of something, please post your question here, there will always be someone that will know the answer for you.

My brother and I are working on a book, gleaned from our father's hand-written memoirs. Our dad was Don Gallacher, head groundsman of Wembley Stadium from 1975 to 1985.
Dad wasn't writing his memoirs with a view to publishing or his place in history (he would have laughed at such a prospect). However, we have to add detail to his memories.
I am trying to ascertain when this event happened: 'Maggie' realised a match was in progress. It was the boys six-a-side Final played before the big game. She walked up the tunnel and sat on the benches... Peter (Blue Peter programme) was to present trophies to all the boys in the six a side semi-finals and finals. He calmly asked the PM if she would honour them and do the presentation, she obliged to a very big cheer. Mrs Thatcher then went up to the Royal Box to do what she had come to Wembley for.

Can anybody help me to identify this match and the date? Margaret Thatcher became Prime Minister on 3rd May 1979 and my father left Wembley in 1985, so these are the possible years. I have asked Peter Duncan who says it wasn't him so it must have been Peter Purvis.
